At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.31%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.22%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 0.23%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1,686 to 1,192 and 111 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1,959 fell and 1,486 advanced, while 162 ended unchanged.
