US stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains
in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower. At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost0.10%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.03%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.13%. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1,473 to 1,262 and 111 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1,909 rose and 1,380 declined, while 165 ended unchanged.
