At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.03%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.38%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.87%. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1681 to 1091 and 85 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1741 fell and 1546 advanced, while 134 ended unchanged.
