At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.75%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.94%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 1.52%. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by1,769 to 1,012 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,147 rose and 1,191 declined, while 126 ended unchanged.
