در سال 1964، اولین فیلم بلند ایرانی «شب قوزی» ساخته فرخ غفاری در بخش هفته منتقدان به نمایش درآمد. این فیلم که سومین ساخته فرخ غفاری است بر اساس یکی از داستان های «هزار و یک شب» نوشته و ساخته شده است. «شب قوزی» در زمستان سال 1343 در تهران روی پرده رفت. این فیلم اگرچه در اکران عمومی با اقبال چندانی روبرو نشد ولی نه تنها در جشنواره کَن، که در کارلوی واری و بروکس نیز مورد تحسین قرار گرفت.
