The beachfront at East Coast Park and the shoreline of Labrador Nature Reserve have been affected by an oil slick. They are closed temporarily to beach-goers until further notice, to facilitate clean-up operations. All other areas at both parks remain open (including F&B).
Wishing all the amazing dads a Happy Father’s Day 🎉

Since 15 June, NEA has been conducting daily air quality tests at affected areas along Sentosa, East Coast Park, and Labrador Nature Reserve to ensure the safety of the public and personnel involved in the clean-up operations. The daily test includes measuring levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including Benzene, Toluene, and Xylene (BTX), that are commonly associated with bunkering fuels and other petrochemicals.

The air quality at these areas remains well within safe levels.

NEA has been monitoring ambient levels of VOCs at various locations in Singapore and no anomalies have been detected.

As a precaution, members of the public are advised to refrain from swimming at Changi beach and engaging in other primary contact water activities until further notice.

Resumption of swimming and sea activities at Changi Beach

An advisory against swimming and primary water activities at Changi beach was issued on 17 June as a precautionary measure in response to the oil spill incident.

Changi beach has not been directly impacted by the oil spill. Water quality has remained normal and stable in the past week, and the bulk of oil in the sea has been removed. As such, NEA will be withdrawing this advisory.

Beachgoers can now resume swimming and other water activities at Changi beach.
