#PSA If you’re planning a day out at the beach, you are advised not to swim at Pasir Ris Beach and Sembawang Park Beach until further notice.

The 2 beaches are graded “Fair”, indicating increased occurrences of elevated levels of enterococcus bacteria in the waters of these beaches. NEA is working with other agencies such as PUB, NParks and SFA to investigate and mitigate possible sources contributing to the elevated bacteria.

NEA and MOH are closely monitoring Boon Lay Place for potential Zika virus transmission.
 
One Zika case was reported in Dec 2023 at Boon Lay Place. No further cases have been reported since then, but persistent Zika virus signals have been detected in mosquito and wastewater samples , suggesting potential Zika transmission in the area (shaded pink in image). 
 
We advise residents in the area, especially pregnant women, to protect themselves from mosquito bites and to monitor their health closely. More information at: go.gov.sg/zika-feb2024
