To minimise the risk of transmission of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), NEA has developed interim guidelines on cleaning and disinfection, to provide guidance and support to residents as well as owners of non-healthcare premises. NEA has also disseminated advisories to hotels, transport operators and F&B outlets, so that they can step up their existing sanitation measures.

If your home may have been exposed to the Novel Coronavirus, follow these steps to clean and disinfect affected areas.

Let’s work together to maintain a high level of public and personal hygiene practices, to keep the Novel Coronavirus at bay.

Food is an important part of our daily lives, and it is essential that all food handlers implement good practices to upkeep good public health hygiene and standards. Together with Singapore Food Agency (SFA), NEA is engaging stallholders at various markets and hawker centres, to provide guidance on maintaining a high level of public hygiene and cleanliness.

To make it easier for stallholders to recall the 7 key good habits, a flyer is being distributed alongside an advisory outlining good practices that stallholders should carry out. The steps are simple ones that individuals can adopt in their daily work. NEA and SFA will continue liaising closely with, and providing support to, operators of food establishments, including stallholders and cleaning contractors at #OurHawkerCentres.

“We don’t find the precautionary measures a hassle at all! In fact, they are essential. Whilst it’s true that we have to spend more effort cleaning our stalls, our customers are important to us. We feel happy and appreciated when they enjoy our food and drinks, and it’s our responsibility to ensure that the food we serve is hygienic and our stalls are clean.” – Mr Loh Teck Seng, Teck Seng Soya Bean Milk, Tiong Bahru Market, #02-69.

“We are the first line of defence in ensuring that our patrons dine with peace of mind. We have intensified our cleaning efforts to ensure the cleanliness of the toilets, food trays, cutlery, tables and chairs. One major change to our daily work is the use of four different cloths, each for a different purpose. With these enhanced measures, we hope to reassure the public and encourage them to continue dining here.” – Mr Deji Pravin, Nick Cleaning Services Pte Ltd, Hawker Centre @ Our Tampines Hub

An important period for remembrance, the Qing Ming Festival is a time for paying respect to our ancestors. Let’s be considerate by keeping our shared spaces clean and staying away from crowds if we’re feeling unwell.

Visitors are encouraged to avoid the peak periods at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery and government columbaria during the weekends from 21 Mar to 19 Apr 2020. Visit www.nea.gov.sg/qingming2020 for more information on the public advisory and real-time traffic conditions outside Mandai Columbarium and Choa Chu Kang Columbarium.
