It’s #WorldMeteorologicalDay! 🌦️🌡️ This year's theme, "Closing the early warning gap together", reminds us of the urgent need to build resilience against extreme weather and climate change impacts.

Higher temperatures, more wet and dry extremes, and accelerating increase in mean sea levels are projected for Singapore and Southeast Asia by the end of the century. Learn more about Singapore's Third National Climate Change Study (go.gov.sg/V3).
Caring for the environment starts with each of us. Let’s do this together! 🌎💚

Preventive measures, including the deployment of booms, have been put in place at coastal drains.

🚨 FACT CHECK: No, you won't be fined for "choping" seats

The National Environment Agency (NEA) is aware of messages claiming there are penalties for seat reservation at hawker centres. These claims are false.

No “Chope-Free” zones either.

We would like to remind patrons to be considerate while dining in #OurHawkerCentres. This helps ensure a pleasant dining experience for all.
🦟They’re small, they’re pesky, and they’re definitely not welcome! Mosquitoes love stagnant water - don’t let them crash the party.

It’s time for a Real-World Quest! Carry out the #BLOCKdengue steps at least once a week and mozzie-proof your home:
Break up hardened soil
Lift and empty flowerpot plates
Overturn pails and wipe their rims
Change water in vases
Keep roof gutters clear and place BTI insecticide

Ever wondered how we measure rainfall in Singapore? 🌧️ It is measured with tipping bucket rain gauges, which use a seesaw mechanism. The bucket fills, tips and repeats. More tips = higher rainfall, faster tips = higher intensity.
