Everyone needs some tender loving care to perform at their best, and that includes our air-conditioners!

Get them serviced regularly to maximise their efficiency. To minimise energy wastage, you can also check their air filters once a month and clean them to ensure airflow isn’t impeded. #EnergyEfficiency

#WeatherWednesday Lightning is a common occurrence in Singapore, find out how it’s formed.

If you’re outdoors during a thunderstorm, take precautions by seeking shelter in a building or car. Do not seek shelter under tall trees or small structures such as tents, and do not stay in or near water bodies such as swimming pools.

Over 6,200 dengue cases have been reported in SG as of 5 Sep 2023. There is a risk of a surge in cases as DENV-1 gains dominance against a backdrop of high weekly dengue cases, several large and persistent dengue clusters, and high Aedes mosquito populations in many places.

Intensive vector control operations are ongoing at dengue cluster areas (go.gov.sg/dengue-clusters). If you are living in a dengue cluster, or have been diagnosed with or suspected to be infected with dengue, carry out the ‘S-A-W’ actions and take immediate action to practise the ‘B-L-O-C-K’ steps.

A female Aedes mosquito gets infected with the Dengue virus when it bites a person infected with dengue. It then transmits dengue to other healthy individuals it goes on to bite.

Help to break the dengue transmission cycle!
Everyone should use insect repellent and carry out other S-A-W actions to protect themselves from being bitten by mosquitoes.
Those diagnosed with or suspected to be infected with dengue are also advised to avoid further mosquito bites, to prevent passing on the Dengue virus to mosquitoes and other people in their neighbourhoods.

S-A-W:
Spray insecticide in dark corners around the house
Apply insect repellent regularly
Wear long-sleeve tops and long pants
