NEA Enforcement Officers, including those from our appointed Service Provider, are legally permitted under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) to ask for your NRIC to take enforcement action against you. Don't worry, your personal particulars will be kept confidential.

Stay tuned as we answer some common questions on enforcement for environmental public health, including offences such as littering, smoking at prohibited places and mosquito breeding.

For questions on table littering enforcement, hear from SMS(SE) Amy Khor in our #AskMeNEAnything video at: https://www.youtu.be/SIjFLBUtaH4
The recent rise in COVID-19 cases has seen seniors at higher risk of developing serious health complications, if infected. If you have elderly family members or friends, remind them not to mingle and to order takeaways instead of dining in.

When visiting #OurHawkerCentres and markets, comply with Safe Management Measures (SMMs) to keep our community safe. There has been feedback that groups tend to linger and lapse into SMM breaches at specific hawker centres, and we have stepped up enforcement at these places.

Some offenders start picking up their litter when they see our Enforcement Officers approaching. This does not mean that the offence can be written off. Remember to properly dispose of your litter in bins at all times, or hold onto it until a bin is available. #keepSGclean

From 13 Oct 2021, only fully vaccinated persons are allowed to dine in groups of up to 2 at hawker centres and coffeeshops. Those who are unvaccinated can buy food to take away. Here’s an infographic to summarise the latest measures, more details at www.nea.gov.sg/media/news/advisories/index/enhanced-safe-management-measures-at-hawker-centres-and-coffeeshops

#SGWeather Caught these rays in our skies recently?

These are anti-crepuscular rays, which extends across the sky and radiate on the horizon opposite the sun; if the rays are converging towards the sun, they are called crepuscular rays. Both phenomena usually occur at sunrise or sunset, due to the scattering of light by small water droplets or particles in the atmosphere. #WeatherWednesday
#SGDengueUpdate Over 4,500 dengue cases have been reported this year, and there are currently 12 active dengue clusters. Although recent weekly dengue cases have been lower than during the same period in 2020, we should all continue to stay vigilant, to prevent a year-end rise in dengue cases amid higher circulation of less common Dengue virus serotype 3 (DENV-3)! #SGWeather Have you ever been caught in the rain with the sun still shining? This meteorological phenomenon is known as sunshowers. This also means that the possibility of spotting a rainbow is high, if the sun is at a low angle in the sky 🌈

This Halloween, let’s lock away our ghastly habits that harm the environment!

When dabao-ing food from #OurHawkerCentres, remember to bring your own reusable containers and #SayYEStoWasteLess!

P.S. If you have elderly family members or neighbours, check if they need help to dabao their meals, so that they can stay home and stay safe.
#RecycleRight Tip: Flatten cardboard boxes, even smaller ones such as tissues boxes. This gives you more room in your recycling corner, and frees up space in the recycling bin! #3Rs
Don’t forget to clear any water collected in containers in your toilets as these can become hotspots for mosquito breeding. By turning over these containers and wiping dry their rims, we will greatly reduce the chances of mosquito breeding in stagnant water found in our homes.

Food waste at East Coast Lagoon Food Village is being turned into energy and fertiliser with the Anaerobic Digestion system, developed by National University of Singapore and supported under NEA’s Closing the Waste Loop R&D Initiative. https://go.gov.sg/food-waste-to-energy-and-fertiliser-pilot
Up to 5 fully vaccinated persons can dine in together from 23 Nov at an initial batch of 11 hawker centres, in line with MTF’s announcement on 20 Nov 2021. Remaining hawker centres are expected to be ready for 5-pax dine-in by 30 Nov. Instead of dining out, dabao some delicious hawker fare for elderly family members or neighbours so that they can stay home and stay safe.

Remember to bring your along reusable containers to reduce single-use disposables. #BYO #SayYEStoWasteLess
Should you use an ultraviolet steriliser at home? No, it is not advisable.

Ultraviolet C (UVC) sterilisers use radiation to kill germs and viruses. However, if you are accidentally exposed to this radiation, you may be at risk of eye and skin injuries. Many sterilisers marketed for home use, lack the safety features that protect you from unintended exposure to UVC radiation. It’s sales galore, with #BlackFriday, #CyberMonday, and the 12.12 sales coming up in the next few weeks, but before tapping on the check out button, ask yourself: “Do I really need this?”

For instance, if your current electronic device isn’t working, try sending it for repair, to save it from the landfill. And if it is beyond repair, don’t forget to drop it in a recycle bin. More at https://go.gov.sg/nea-recycle-e-waste
