The Trump administration has included journalist Tucker Carlson in a list of potential investors in the video hosting service TikTok, the Financial Times reported, citing sources.

They write that discussions about the candidacy began during the period when the White House was trying to conclude a deal with the Chinese owner of the ByteDance platform. Tucker Carlson was proposed as an investor by US Vice President J.D. Vance.

The list also included venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and investment company Blackstone. Tucker Carlson himself said that he was not aware of the list of possible investors in TikTok.

The US has previously tried to block TikTok amid concerns that China's ByteDance was collecting data on American users. Trump has said the platform would only continue to operate in the country if he transferred a 50% stake.
