Hare Krishna. With great sadness, we announce the passing away of our dearly beloved Gita Jayanti International Patron, Datin Paduka Seri Mother A. Mangalam of Malaysia.

Mother celebrated her 97th birthday a few weeks ago, and shortly thereafter she came down with pneumonia.
She left her body yesterday afternoon.

She always encouraged us so kindly in our mission of spreading the singing of the Gita worldwide.
Perhaps by divine 'coincidence', just yesterday, we published online, the first e-Book version of our Gita Slokas Book For Daily Recitation in a new format online, easily viewable by phone - www.bit.ly/GitaDevanagari

Shortly after I had received the news of her departure, I received a phone call from Mrs Santha Krishna Iyer who is now on holiday in the US. She called to convey the sad news to me. Mrs Iyer is related to Mother Mangalam as her daughterin-law's mum is Mother Mangalam's cousin.

She also informed me of another sad loss... she learnt through facebook about 2-3 days ago that Renu Velayutham, who had been our hardworking Gita Jayanti Malaysia secretary for many years, had also passed away. This was most shocking news. She had no further details. We will contact Dr Vythi, our GJ Malaysia Chairman to find out more details and will share it here thereafter.
