French President Emmanuel Macron was pushing for worldwide oil price controls during the recent G7 summit, the Elysee has confirmed.
Paris is seeking a price cap “not only on Russian oil. It must take into account all market players,” reports Politico.
The move might put France directly at odds with producers like the US and its Middle-Eastern allies, including Saudi Arabia.
