🇫🇷🇺🇦 Two French journalist relates living trough Ukrainian shelling
👉🏻 Donbass Insider is a French conflict-observing media, which have been operating since 2018. Its crew was yesterday in Petrovski, were they reportedly endured five hours of shelling, the loss of their car and the death of a local elder man.
🗣 «A shell exploded in the yard, severely wounding an old man. He was lying on his back in the middle of a store, his cane and glasses lying next to him.
The man was trying to get his breath back, we leaned his head against a bottle. Soon the blood was pouring out, his right side was also riddled with shrapnel, he had several broken ribs. We tried to wash his gaping wound, hidden behind two refrigerator windows, illusory protections.
We should have carried him to the cellar, but the shells kept falling. At the slightest attempt we would have been mowed down, and there were only two of us with bulletproof vests and helmets. He died in our arms, and we were powerless to do anything but acknowledge his death.
When we went back to the cave I did not dare to mention the death of the grandfather, which I finally announced in a breath. The room was stunned. Young Roman had just lost his grandfather»

🌳 The Great Miseries of War: The Hanging — Jacques Callot (1633)
In the end these thieves infamous and lost
As unfortunate fruits to this tree hanged
Show well that crime (the horrible and black engeance)
Is itself an instrument of shame and vengeance
And that it is the fate of vicious men
To sooner or later feel the justice of the skies.

Bad grains harvest forecast for EU - including France, who is usually exporter
Worsens global outlook for #wheat shortages
"The EU is expected to produce almost 5% less wheat this year compared with 2021. It was also forecast to produce 278.8 million metric tons of all grains in the 2022-2023 growing season, down over 4% from last year, because of the dry weather.
Production in France, which is the fifth-largest grower of wheat in the world, was also projected to decline by more than 5%. The country accounts for about 18% of European agricultural production, according to the French Ministry of Agriculture. France is also the fourth-biggest wheat exporter globally.
In addition to dry weather, the country’s agricultural land has been hit with severe storms, that damaged wheat, fruit and vineyard land.
