Job Description
The incumbent, directly supervised by the Shipment Supervisor, prepares import/export documents for customs clearance and delivery of incoming and outgoing shipments of household effects, consumables and Private Owned Vehicles (POVs) for Mission employees, and for official U.S. Government (USG) supplies, equipment and vehicles. Delivers documents to customs authorities and to packing/freight forwarding companies. Facilitates the release of shipments arriving at the airport and port of Djibouti. Expedites arriving and departing American personnel, Temporary Duty (TDY) personnel, visitors and VIPs through airport customs and immigration procedures. Assists diplomatic courier at airport/support flights. Send welcome information/advice to the new assigned personnel. Monitor and update information on Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) and communicate regularly with customers.
Job Requirement
• Required Education: A University degree in logistics, management or business administration is required.
• Required Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in transportation field closely related to providing customs and shipping services, transiting, and expediting to include handling shipping documentation such as import and export documents is required.
• Language Requirement: Level IV (fluency-speaking/reading/writing) in English and Amharic is required (You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Human Resources Office).
• Skills and Abilities: 2nd class driving license is required (Driving skill may be tested). Computer skills are required (This may be tested).
OPENING DATE: November 1, 2019
CLOSING DATE: November 15, 2019
WORK HOURS: Full-time (40 hours/week)
SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): Position Grade: FSN-7, – 10,721.00 USD per year.
Not Ordinarily Resident: FP-07*
*Final grade/step for NORs will be determined by Washington.
NOTE: For ordinarily resident employees, salary will be paid in local currency using the established exchange rate.
