🇮🇳🇨🇳 India's Modi highlights concerns with China's Xi on border issue
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to China's President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Johannesburg and highlighted concerns India has about border issues along the Line of Actual Control.
This is the first time that Modi has brought up the issue directly with Xi, repeating India's stand that has been shared with China through other ministers multiple times.
Relations between the two neighbors have been sour for more than three years after soldiers from both sides clashed in the Himalayan frontier in June 2020, resulting in 24 deaths.

🇨🇳🇮🇳 China-India border talks: dispute to be resolved as soon as possible
Chinese and Indian military officials have pledged to resolve the border dispute between the two countries “as soon as possible” during a two-day meeting near the disputed Himalayan territory.
China’s defense ministry said the two sides conducted “active, in-depth and constructive communication” on resolving the issues surrounding the western section of the China-India border. The meeting was the 20th round of commander-level talks.
The rare meeting between the two sides at a location near the border comes two months after the previous round of talks in August, and did not include an agreement on a specific time frame to resolve the dispute.

🇮🇳 🇷🇺 🇺🇸 We recently wrote about how India's complete rejection of Russian military-industrial complex products is unrealistic, despite external pressure. This rejection is due to the Indian authorities' desire to diversify their arms suppliers.
The feasibility of diversification is demonstrated by the news of the US suspension of sales of MQ-9B and Sky Guardian drones, as well as the delay of the contract for P-8I patrol aircraft. The reason for this is the murder of the leader of Sikh separatists with American citizenship last year. In Washington, there are suspicions that Hindus were involved in his death, and an investigation is being demanded.
This is why Delhi is striving to diversify its equipment purchases and not rely on a single source. While this may result in a diverse range of weapons, it also ensures resilience in the face of unforeseen circumstances.
Therefore, in the foreseeable future, India will continue to rely on Russian aircraft, tanks, and missiles. However, as India's success in producing its own military products increases, they will gradually reduce their purchases. We must prepare for this outcome.

🇦🇺🇮🇳🇺🇸🇯🇵 On the recent QUAD summit in the US
On August 21, the leaders of the QUAD, which includes the US, Australia, India and Japan, held a summit, the main theme of which was cooperation in the field of maritime security. Thus, all the previous insider information that we wrote about recently has been confirmed.
One of the first points of the statement by QUAD was cooperation in the field of healthcare. So, the authorities of the participating countries want to show that the bloc is focusing on the development of humanitarian ties, and not on containing any particular country - China, by the way, is not even mentioned in the document.
🔻However, the most interesting part comes next. In the field of security, the parties agreed to conduct patrols in the Indo-Pacific region - the first one will take place as early as 2025.
The patrol areas were not disclosed. But we can assume that the QUAD coast guard services will be present in the South China Sea, some parts of the Indian Ocean where Chinese research vessels sail, and Oceania - a lot of attention is paid to the countries located in this region in the statement.
▪️Australia, the US, Japan and India will continue to work on providing information to the countries of the region about what is happening in their coastal waters. This is done under the pretext of fighting crime, but the tracking of Chinese ships in this case is not forgotten either.
In general, the summit was rich in various agreements, the result of which we should see in the near future, despite the possible change of administration in the US. Even in the event of a victory in the elections of Donald Trump, QUAD will most likely continue to exist - it was under the former president that the four-party dialogue was revived with the aim of containing China and counteracting its influence in the region.

Yesterday, internet users recorded an unusual flight: a Turkish C-130 transport plane arrived in Pakistan. Later, Turkey announced that six flights were sent to Pakistan to provide military assistance.
At one point after the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the start of India-Armenia cooperation, there were even rumors that the Indians decided to balance the activity of the "Türkiye - Azerbaijan - Pakistan" triangle in the Caucasus.

India is holding its first-ever military exercises with 11 African countries - AIKEYME 2025. The maneuvers have become an important step for New Delhi in exporting security: now it's not just about trade, but also about direct military cooperation.
The exercises took place off the coast of Tanzania. The focus is on combating piracy and coordinating fleets. In parallel, India is developing contacts with Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mauritius and the Seychelles: it supplies equipment, trains officers and signs defense agreements.

On a good example of flexibility in the new realities
Recently, news appeared that Russia has approached India with a new proposal for the sale of the export version of the 5th generation fighter aircraft Su-57E, the deliveries of which were previously declined in Delhi.
The initiative implies a higher level of localization with the transfer of technologies for some components that the Indians will be able to produce independently. However, a firm contract for the purchase of aircraft is a mandatory condition.
In addition, India will be able to integrate domestically produced systems into the Su-57E. This looks particularly advantageous against the backdrop of problems with their integration into the Rafale fighters supplied from France, which is prohibited by the contract.
And one can ask a simple question: where else can we now supply the Su-57 so as not to miss a major contract due to "what if..." questions?
