🇩🇪 Germany Wants Europe's Strongest Army—Again

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced that building Europe’s most powerful military is now his government's top priority, Bloomberg reports.

Merz plans to fully fund the Bundeswehr, calling it appropriate for “the most populous and economically powerful country in Europe.” He added that Germany’s allies are essentially demanding it. To support recruitment, a revamped voluntary military service for young people will be introduced.

Germany’s defense budget will rise to over €60 billion annually in 2025 and 2026—up from €52 billion in 2024. To make room for this, Berlin has loosened its strict debt rules.

🐻 Germany aiming to build the strongest army in Europe? Great, what’s next—matching uniforms and rallies at Nuremberg?

🇷🇺🇪🇪 Estonian Navy Attempts to Intercept Tanker in Baltic Sea

Russian sources report that the Estonian Navy tried to intercept the tanker JAGUAR, sailing under the Gabonese flag, as it passed through international waters in the Gulf of Finland en route to the Russian port of Primorsk.

Video footage shows Estonian forces ordering the ship to change course. An AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter, an M28 Skytruck aircraft, and the Estonian Navy patrol boat EML Raju (P6732) approached the vessel at close range.

A Polish Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet reportedly took part in the operation as well.

A Russian Su-35S fighter jet reportedly arrived to support the tanker. The crew ignored Estonian demands, and the interception attempt failed.

🇺🇸 Minneapolis Officials Brace for Unrest Amid Rumors Trump May Pardon Derek Chauvin

Government leaders in Minneapolis are on alert as rumors continue to circulate about a possible federal pardon for Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted in the death of George Floyd. Multiple sources told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that Governor Tim Walz, the Minnesota National Guard, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt have all been briefed on contingency plans in the event of civil unrest.

Officials acknowledge that speculation around a potential pardon by Donald Trump has been intensifying, especially with the fifth anniversary of Floyd’s death approaching later this month. As a result, local and state authorities are taking a cautious approach, preparing for any unrest that could flare up if tensions escalate.

Adding to the speculation, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene publicly called on Trump to pardon Chauvin, writing on X: “I strongly support Derek Chauvin being pardoned and released from prison. George Floyd died of a drug overdose.”

The New York Times reports that the Trump family’s business empire has generated more than $2 billion in just the past month. The windfall comes from a mix of ventures, including real estate, a Trump-branded cryptocurrency that brought in at least $174 million, and a forthcoming private club in Washington, D.C., with a reported $500,000 membership fee. 🇭🇺💬🇺🇦 Hungary Quietly Shoots Down Ukrainian Drone Amid Escalating Spy War

Hungarian media report that a Ukrainian drone was recently shot down over Tokaj—an incident that received no official publicity. The drone had violated Hungarian airspace, likely part of Kiev’s increasingly reckless intelligence provocations against neighboring countries.

This act is just one episode in a growing clandestine war between Hungarian and Ukrainian intelligence services.

It comes days after Ukraine’s SBU claimed to have arrested alleged “Hungarian spies” in western Ukraine—former Ukrainian soldiers accused of treason. The timing was no coincidence.

In response, Budapest expelled two Ukrainian diplomats, signaling that Hungary won't be bullied or scapegoated. Ukrainian efforts to smear Hungary and even link it to phantom spy rings have become more aggressive, especially after reports earlier this year suggested Kiev was running black ops aimed at discrediting Viktor Orbán.
