🇪🇺🇺🇸🇷🇺 Trump Blocks Europe’s Push for Sanctions, Pressures Ukraine to Negotiate with Russia

According to The Guardian, Donald Trump derailed a European plan to sanction Russia if it rejected a proposed 30-day ceasefire starting Monday. Instead, he demanded that Ukraine immediately begin peace talks with Moscow.

European diplomats revealed that leaders like Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, and Donald Tusk visited Kiev aiming to pressure Trump into acknowledging that Putin was stalling — and to support tough U.S. sanctions. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham had even prepared a sanctions package.

However, after Trump publicly urged Zelensky to accept direct talks, Ukraine reportedly agreed to a meeting with Russia in Istanbul to avoid provoking Washington. As a result, the UK also delayed its planned sanctions against Russia.

🇾🇪🖕🇺🇸 NYT Reveals: U.S. Declared ‘Victory’ Over Ansar Allah Despite Strategic Stalemate

A recent New York Times report outlines how the United States, under Trump, launched a high-cost air campaign against Ansar Allah in Yemen with the goal of reopening commercial shipping through the Red Sea. The campaign was expected to yield results within 30 days—but instead ended in a political declaration of success with no decisive military gain.

Trump approved the bombing campaign in early 2024, hoping for a quick resolution. By Day 31, U.S. forces had failed to suppress Ansar Allah’s operational capabilities and achieve air superiority. The group continued firing at Red Sea vessels, shot down multiple American MQ-9 Reaper drones (each worth ~$30 million), and forced U.S. aircraft—including F-16s and F-35s—to evade advanced air defenses.

American munitions were being consumed at a rate of over $1 billion per month, raising internal concerns about long-term readiness, especially amid tensions with China.

Despite the lack of tangible success, the White House suddenly ordered a “pause” in strikes on May 5. According to the NYT, this decision followed indirect talks via Oman. In return for halting the bombings, Ansar Allah reportedly agreed to stop targeting American-flagged ships, though they made no promises about Israeli-linked vessels. No binding agreement was signed.

General Kurilla, head of U.S. Central Command, had proposed a prolonged 8–10 month campaign to degrade Ansar Allah’s air defense systems and carry out targeted assassinations of key leaders—modeled on Israeli tactics in Lebanon. Saudi Arabia supported the plan and even provided a list of targets, while the UAE expressed skepticism, citing Ansar Allah’s resilience after years of Saudi-Emirati bombardment.

In the end, the extended campaign was squeezed into a 30-day window, and results failed to meet expectations. Pentagon planners grew uneasy about depleting advanced weapons stockpiles and the strategic strain it posed globally.

🇮🇱🇵🇸 Israel's Foreign Minister threatens those who recognize a Palestinian state

Ahead of US President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar this week, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar notes that “there have been talks about an initiative to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state,” and warns that “such initiatives are not constructive, but counterproductive.”

“They will only serve as a prize for Hamas’s terror,” he says during a press conference with his German counterpart in Jerusalem.

He adds that any attempt to unilaterally recognize Palestinian statehood “will only harm future prospects for a bilateral process – and will push us to unilateral actions in response.”

🇸🇪 Ok so this happened a couple of days ago, so we might be a bit late on the news, but it's too funny not to post:

Sweden’s new National Security Adviser Tobias Thyberg resigned less than 24 hours after his appointment on Thursday, following the emergence of “sensitive” photos linked to an old dating app profile.

“Shortly after the government’s decision to appoint Tobias Thyberg, entirely new personal information about him emerged that was previously unknown to the Government Offices,” Johan Stuart, State Secretary to Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, told POLITICO in a statement.

Thyberg served as Sweden’s ambassador to Afghanistan from 2017 to 2019, ambassador to Ukraine until 2023, and most recently headed the foreign ministry’s unit for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Sweden has had only two national security advisers to date, both of whom have left the post under unusual circumstances. Thyberg’s predecessor Henrik Landerholm stepped down in January after a prosecutor launched an investigation into his mishandling of highly classified documents at a conference center in 2023.

🐻 Don't you just love how they all talk, scheme, plan, and have boyband type photoshoots including dubious bags of unknown substances... meanwhile Putin makes the whole world wait for over an hour, listening to a very weird playlist, comes out at 2 AM, speaks for 18 minutes and that's it, all straight forward, no bs.

Be more like Putin, folks.
