The Foreign Minister arrived in the Dominican Republic for his first official visit, which coincided with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the opening of the Russian embassy in the country.

The welcoming delegation also included Alexey Seredin - the first permanent Russian head of the diplomatic mission in the Dominican Republic. Lavrov's program includes a meeting with his Dominican counterpart, as well as with President Luis Abinader.

🖍The agenda includes strengthening trade and economic ties, cultural and humanitarian issues, as well as potential investments. Foreign media do not rule out that the situation in neighboring Haiti may also be discussed.

🚩A separate topic for discussion is, of course, tourism. Until February 2022, the flow of Russian tourists to the Dominican Republic reached just under 200,000 people per year, but with the complication of international flights, the situation has worsened.

🇺🇸🇺🇦 Kiev has finalized the decisions needed to sign a critical minerals agreement with the United States, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Accordin to Shmyhal, the agreement is based on five key principles:

- Equality: The fund will be established on a 50/50 basis, with both parties having equal voting rights.

- Preservation of control: Ukraine will retain full control over its subsoil, infrastructure, and natural resources.

- New investments, not debt: The agreement does not involve any debt obligations.

- Guaranteed investors and buyers: The fund will invest in projects and guarantee commercial purchases of products on a "take or pay" basis.

- Alignment with EU integration: The agreement will not hinder Ukraine’s EU membership aspirations.

The fund will be financed by contributions from both the U.S. and Ukraine, with profits reinvested exclusively in Ukraine.
