🇬🇧🇺🇦 UK Rejects Exemption from Human Rights Laws for "Peacekeeping Troops" in Ukraine

British "peacekeeping troops" sent to Ukraine could become targets of Russian legal actions after the UK government rejected calls to exempt them from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Defence Secretary John Healey dismissed suggestions to suspend certain human rights provisions, despite concerns that Russian authorities could use “lawfare” to undermine British forces.

Opposition defence secretary James Cartlidge had urged an exemption, warning that Russia could "exploit human rights laws to undermine UK forces by engineering clashes and pursuing cases through UK courts." Healey insisted the UK would comply with international law and uphold the ECHR, believing it wouldn’t hinder objectives, which now focus on rebuilding Ukraine's military.

The mission’s scope appears reduced, with UK troops likely stationed in western Ukraine, mainly for training, while the RAF and Royal Navy would secure airspace and territorial waters.

🇷🇺 Lavrov Outlines Russia’s Conditions for Ending the Ukraine Conflict

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking to Brazil’s O Globo newspaper during the BRICS summit, outlined Russia’s key demands for ending the war in Ukraine:

➡️Ukraine must repeal its legal ban on negotiations with Russia;

➡️Ukraine must not join NATO and must maintain a neutral, non-aligned status;

➡️Ukraine must address the consequences of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, including reversing laws and actions aimed at the elimination of the Russian language, media, culture, traditions, and canonical Orthodoxy;

➡️Ukraine must accept the international recognition of Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea, Sevastopol, the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

Lavrov emphasized that any commitments made by Kiev must be legally binding, enforceable, and permanent.

He also stated that Russia's broader demands include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the lifting of Western sanctions, the withdrawal of legal claims and arrest warrants against Russian officials, and the return of Russian assets frozen abroad.

Moscow is additionally seeking reliable security guarantees against threats created by the hostile actions of NATO, the European Union, and their member states along Russia’s western borders.

🇰🇵🇷🇺 It's funny how the cope now is "Putin had to ask North Korea for help," after years of saying "North Korea has a huge military but no combat experience, so they're useless."

Well, now they’ve got experience in Kursk — and they’ll take it home to pass on.

🇷🇺👻🇪🇺 Russia Could Invade Estonia" – The Wall Street Journal on European Intelligence Speculations

"Russia's military actions are keeping Europe on edge. Putin is expanding military bases and preparing to deploy large forces to the border regions of Europe. One such base is being built in Petrozavodsk. A European intelligence official stated that Russia might attempt to test NATO's unity by invading a small alliance member, such as Estonia."

🐻 No one wants to invade that swamp.
