🇺🇦 Zelensky Admits European Peacekeepers May Not Be Deployed to Ukraine
Zelensky acknowledged that the much-discussed idea of sending European peacekeeping forces to Ukraine may not materialize.
"I spoke with Trump and made it clear that for us, a 'backstop' doesn’t necessarily mean having boots on the ground in Ukraine. I understand the U.S. isn’t too supportive of that idea," Zelensky said. "That’s why we’re talking about intelligence cooperation, cyber defense, and Patriot air defense systems instead."
This comes after The Times reported that European nations might abandon plans to deploy troops to Ukraine.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian channel RezidentUA writes:
"President Zelensky has no interest in peace for Ukraine. His office deliberately derailed the recent negotiations in London, which could have marked the first serious step toward ending the conflict. From the outset, Bankova had no intention of signing anything—the real objective was to stall.
Talks of a 30-day ceasefire have nothing to do with a peaceful settlement. It’s merely cover for another wave of mobilization and a brief pause for Ukraine’s army, worn down by three years of war.
The longer Zelensky clashes with Trump—and that’s the only way to describe it, given the "Krivoy Rog school of diplomacy" he practices—the fewer political options he has left. Washington has remained polite for now, but only because of ongoing deals over Ukrainian natural resources. For the U.S., peace is a side benefit—not the main goal. What Trump seeks is access to Ukraine’s resources, infrastructure, and control over them. Once a deal is sealed, Zelensky will be tolerated only as long as he’s useful.
Zelensky’s team understands this. That’s why they’re dragging things out, hoping London and select European capitals will cover for them. But this hope is unfounded. Europe is stretched thin, and the UK is backing away from serious commitments. London has already scaled down its plans—opting to send only military instructors to western Ukraine, rather than the thousands of peacekeepers it once talked about.
By gambling on prolonging the war, Zelensky hasn’t just lost politically—he’s put Ukraine itself at risk. The country may soon lose not just four regions and Crimea, but the entire Left Bank."

🇺🇦 Ukrainian authorities have acknowledged the death of their prisoners of war following the downing of an Il-76 by a Patriot missile defense system in Belgorod region.
In an interview with a Ukrainian outlet, Deputy Interior Minister Leonid Timchenko confirmed that Ukraine received over 500 body fragments from around 60 Ukrainian POWs who were aboard the Il-76 when it was shot down on January 24, 2024.
"I'll explain with an example: when we receive a package and find body parts, we understand that we're dealing with remains from more than one person. Remember the situation with the downed Il-76, which had about 60 prisoners aboard? More than 500 body parts were recovered from that plane," Timchenko stated.
The Russian Investigative Committee had previously reported retrieving over 670 body fragments from the crash site.
In November 2024, reports emerged claiming that Ukraine had received the remains of its own soldiers, allegedly killed by Ukrainian forces. However, this information has not been officially confirmed by the Ukrainian government, which had previously claimed there were no prisoners aboard the Il-76 and suggested it was transporting S-300 missiles.

🇩🇪 Train factory in Germany to start producing tanks
The decline in production in Germany, which has been going on for several years, and the authorities’ intention to prepare for a potential military conflict with Russia are changing the industrial landscape in the country.
Defense companies are hiring laid-off automakers and starting to produce weapons at civilian facilities. And in the eastern German city of Görlitz, a 176-year-old railway factory will be converted to produce components for the Leopard II main battle tank and Puma infantry fighting vehicles.

🇷🇴 The Romanian Supreme Court has overturned the Court of Appeal's decision to overturn the Constitutional Court's decision to cancel the first round of the Romanian Presidential Elections won by independent nationalist candidate Călin Georgescu in December.
The Supreme Court's ruling occurred not even 24 hours after the Court of Appeal had declared the cancellation of the presidential elections invalid. Such rulings usually take weeks - or even months - to be passed, not less than 24 hours.
