🇮🇷🇵🇰🏴 About the Pakistan Air Force's retaliatory operation in Iran
🔻During the night, Pakistani troops conducted a retaliatory operation on Iranian territory by attacking the outskirts of the village of Seravan on the Pakistan border. This operation was codenamed Marg bar Sarmachar, which means "Death to the Sarmachars" (referring to Baloch separatists in Iran).
▪️ The Pakistanis deployed tactical aircraft (according to media reports, these included Chinese JF-17 and J-10C, as well as American F-16). The exact number is unknown, but they took off from the Jacobabad base.
▪️ Pakistani sources also reported the flight of a Chinese-made Wing Loong II UAV, which was sighted by residents of Sindh province in the evening near Karachi. It was likely deployed for aircraft guidance.
▪️ After midnight, the planes entered Iranian airspace by approximately 20 km and conducted multiple attacks with REK guided bombs on the outskirts of Serawan. They returned without facing any resistance from Iranian air defense.
▪️ The target of the operation was the hideouts of Baloch militants in Iran. According to the Pakistanis, two members of the Balochistan Liberation Front named Dosta Alias and Ashgar Alias Basham were killed.
🔻As we mentioned yesterday, this entire situation appears highly illogical considering the friendly relations between the two countries. Furthermore, the Iranians would not directly attack a nuclear country without some sort of prior agreement.
Given that the targets of the attacks were minor Baloch extremists (as confirmed by local authorities in the Iranian province), we are increasingly inclined to believe that there was a preliminary agreement in place. The purpose of this agreement may have been to address the issue of smugglers using unconventional means.
What does this achieve?
For instance, it provides a mutual opportunity to control armed groups operating in border areas, maintain the preparedness of their respective troops, and also demonstrate the strength of their national armed forces to their own audiences.
