๐บ๐ฆ Support for Territorial Concessions Grows Among Ukrainians, Poll Shows
A growing number of Ukrainians are now willing to consider territorial concessions to end the conflict and preserve the countryโs independence, according to the latest poll by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
As of the last six months, 38% of respondents support giving up territory to stop the fighting.
Meanwhile, 52% continue to oppose any concessions, even if it means prolonging the conflict and risking the complete loss of national sovereignty. However, this hardline stance is clearly weakening. Back in late 2022 โ the first autumn of the Russian special military operation โ a staggering 87% of Ukrainians rejected any compromise. At that time, only 8% supported territorial concessions. Now, that group has more than quadrupled.
The shift began in December 2023, and over the past half year, support for a negotiated settlement involving territorial compromise has stabilized near the 40% mark.
