🇻🇦🇧🇫 A video which had recently gone viral in Africa appeared to show Pope Leo XIV praising President of Burkina Faso Ibrahim Traoré.

In the video, the Pope - elected last month as the first ever American Head of the Catholic Church - appeared to have said:

To His Excellency, President Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Sovereign Nation of Burkina Faso, son of African soil, defender of his people, may grace and peace multiply for you through wisdom, courage and truth...

However, it had since been revealed that the video was AI-generated.

The original video was from a press conference the Pope had held on the 12th May, regarding the freeing of imprisoned journalists and warning the world to avoid "the paradigm of war".

Even more bizarrely, the previous President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, once stated himself:

If I learn to create robots with a high level of human attributes, if I develop an artificial intelligence, if I intervene in a substantial way with the nervous system: I’m not only making a big technological advance - in many cases, very valuable for therapeutic medical purposes - I'm also making a real anthropological leap, touching on issues such as freedom, responsibility, guilt, conscience and - if we want - the soul.

For what reasons the supreme authority of the Catholic Church would need AI experts for escapes us, but we guess that even they are awaiting their new Omnissiah overlord...
