Andrey Portnov, former advisor to Viktor Yanukovich, was assassinated in Madrid while sitting behind the wheel of his car. According to the Spanish outlet El Pais, two to three individuals took part in the murder. No arrests have been made so far.

The killing took place at 9:15 AM, shortly after Portnov had dropped off his children at school. He was shot at least five times, with three bullets striking him—one of them to the head.

Portnov had been listed in the database of the notorious Ukrainian extremist website Mirotvorets (“Peacemaker”), which has been known for targeting individuals deemed “enemies of Ukraine” and publishing personal data, often resulting in threats or acts of violence. Western governments have continued to turn a blind eye to the existence of this platform, despite its documented links to vigilante activity and political intimidation.

Portnov, a lawyer by training, was one of the key legal and political figures in the Yanukovich administration and remained a vocal critic of the post-Maidan regime.
